Golden Eagle Women’s Basketball to Play Three Non-Conference Road Games this Week

(Crookston, Minn.)- The University of Minnesota, Crookston Women's Basketball team hits the road this week for a trio of non-conference basketball games. The Golden Eagles travel to Valley City State on Tuesday, November 22 to play Vikings at 7 p.m. The team turns around and heads to St. Paul for the 2011 Radisson Roseville Classic on November 25-26 at Concordia University, St. Paul. UMC will play Michigan Tech on Friday at 2 p.m. and Mount Mercy on Saturday at 2 p.m. The NSIC season-opener is scheduled for Friday, December 2 at the University of Minnesota, Crookston. The Golden Eagles will host the Bulldogs of Minnesota Duluth at 6 p.m.
 
The University of Minnesota, Crookston Women's Basketball team opened the 2011-12 season in Lysaker Gymnasium on Friday, November 18 with a non-conference game against Mayville State. The Golden Eagles took a 10 point lead into the half and exploded in the second half outscoring Mayville 47-21. Minnesota, Crookston led by 36 points with 2:30 remaining and held that lead with an 87-51 victory. Megan Eul (F, 5-10, Sr., Rosemount, Minn.) led all players in the contest with 21 points. She was 6-10 from the field and 9-10 from the free-throw line. Brittani Wiese (G, 5-7, Jr., Albertville, Minn.) followed Eul with 19 points. Wiese was 5-11 from the field and 9-10 from the charity stripe. She also tied a game-high with four assists. Laurie Tyson (C, 6-1, Jr., Rosemount Minn.) led all players with 10 rebounds (2 offensive, 8 defensive). The Golden Eagle defense forced 27 Comets turnovers and turned those into 31 points.
 
The University of Minnesota, Crookston is 1-0 on the season and 0-0 in NSIC play.
