Prior to UMC: Melander was an All-Wright County Conference Honorable Mention pick at Holy Family Catholic H.S...She also served as her team's captain. Melander also competed for the Vital Volleyball Club, where she most recently played for the 18-1 Gold squad...She accumulated 312 kills with a .297 attack percentage as a senior at Holy Family. Melander also had 47 digs on the season.

Personal: Melander is the daughter of Jon and Beth Melander...She was born July 18, 1997...She is majoring biology and health science...Father Jon Melander played football at the University of Minnesota and competed in the NFL as a guard for the New England Patriots, Cincinnati Bengals and Denver Broncos...Cousin Rian Melander played football for the University of Minnesota...Cousin Christina Melander played basketball for Bemidji State University. Cousin Oliver Smith is going to play basketball at the U.S. Naval Academy.
