Prior to UMN Crookston: Grant was a finalist for McDonald's All-American status as a prep at Johnston H.S. He was a Third Team All-State selection as a prep, and a First Team All-CIML pick. Grant played the last two seasons for Paul Sather at the University of North Dakota. As a sophomore, he appeared in 18 games scoring seven points and securing 16 rebounds, and 18 assists. As a freshman, Grant played 28 games and averaged 15.3 minutes per game. Grant averaged 1.9 points, 1.3 rebounds, and 2.0 assists per game as a freshman. Reid Grant played AAU for Kingdom Hoops.

Personal: He is the son of Crista and Ryan Grant. Grant plans to major in exercise science. His father Ryan Grant is President of Business Operations for the Iowa Wolves, the NBA G League affiliate of the Minnesota Timberwolves.
