Josh Hager is the defensive coordinator with Golden Eagle Football. Hager was a linebackers coach and recruiting coordinator at Michigan Tech for the past four seasons.He caoched Mike Rittenour (2010 1st Team All-Conference) and coordinated Drew Vanderlin (2010 1st Team All-Conference) and Todd Storm (2010 1st Team All-Conference and the Defensive Lineman of the Year). In 2010, the Husky defense was 13th against the run, 26th against the pass and 26th in overall defense in the nation.
Before arriving at Michigan Tech, Hager spent a season as the wide receivers coach at NCAA Division I-AA Central Connecticut State, where he helped the Blue Devils to an 8-3 record. CCSU’s offense set seven school records and finished among the top 10 in the country in Division I-AA in scoring (33.0 points per game) and total offense (386.8 yards per game).
Prior to his stint at CCSU, Hager worked at the University of Mary in Bismarck, N.D., from 2003 to 2005. He coached the linebackers, defensive line and tight ends during his tenure.
Hager played quarterback at Dickinson State University for four years and began his coaching career there in 1996. He moved to Valley City State University to complete a bachelor’s degree in elementary education and physical education in 1999. Hager gained a master’s degree in secondary administration from the University of Mary in 2006.
