James Cullinane is in his third season on staff for the Golden Eagles, and his second as a full assistant coach after finishing up his academic career in 2018-19.
Cullinane helped the Golden Eagles to a strong 8-5 start. Minnesota Crookston hit .324 during the Covid-19 shortened 13-game slate with the help of Cullinane. In addition, the Golden Eagles posted a .527 slugging percentage, and a .415 on-base percentage for a .942 OPS. In addition, the Golden Eagles were strong defensively with a .958 fielding percentage. On the base paths, Minnesota Crookston had 17 stolen bases on 27 attempts, with the aid of Cullinane.
Cullinane is a former Minnesota Crookston baseball player from 2016-18. He started 41 games as a an outfield as a senior and hit .258 with 23 runs scored, 10 doubles, three triples, and eight RBIs. Cullinane had a .372 on-base percentage. As a junior in 2017, he started 45 games and hit .261 with 24 runs scored, three doubles, two triples, and 12 RBI's.
Cullinane has been a part of two of the program's three NSIC Tournament appearances in the last four years, as either a player or an assistant coach. As an assistant coach, he helped Minnesota Crookston to a program-record of 28 wins in 2019.
Prior to transferring to Minnesota Crookston, Cullinane, a native of San Francisco, Calif., spent two seasons at the City College of San Francisco. He earned his degree from the University of Minnesota Crookston and is pursuing a Master's degree from the University of North Dakota.
