2025 (Sophomore): Kappes saw some starting duty as a sophomore for the Golden Eagles, mostly at short stop...He appeared in 39 games, with 22 starts...He also was utilized as a late-inning defensive substitution and a pinch runner...Kappes hit .172 with 13 runs scored, two doubles, and nine RBI...He walked seven times, and stole one base...Kappes had a .944 fielding percentage, with six double plays. 

2024 (Freshman): Kappes came in as a freshman and played 12 games, with two starts for the Golden Eagles...He hit .000 in six at-bats, with six runs scored and two walks...Kappes was used mostly as a pinch-runner...He scored against Davis & Elkins, Sioux Falls, Concordia-St. Paul, St. Cloud State, Northern State, and UMary. 

Prior to UMN Crookston: Kappes joins his High School teammate Fliflet as a future Golden Eagle...Kappes is a shortstop who led his Legion team to the American Legion North Dakota Class A State Championship in 2021 and was the American Legion Post #20 Rookie of the Year and Defensive MVP that same season...Kappes was also named to the All-Tournament team at the 2021 American Legion Central Plains Tournament...In 2022, he was the offensive and defensive MVP in the American Legion Post #20 and was named his Wahpeton High School team defensive MVP in 2022.
 
Personal: Kappes is the son of Danette and Chris Kappes and plans to major in Sports and Recreation Management at Minnesota Crookston...Kappes is a member of the National Honor Society and was named as an outstanding sophomore and an outstanding Junior...He has been coached by his dad, Chris, since he was ten and his Babe Ruth team played in the 14U Babe Ruth World Series in Alabama in 2019.
