Biography

2020 (Senior): Missed the shortened 2020 season due to injury.

2019: Junior season...Started in 17 games for the Golden Eagles...Hit .259 with nine runs scored and four driven in on the season.

Prior to UMC: Chu has played three seasons at City College of San Francisco. He is hitting .286 as a sophomore with 11 runs scored, three doubles, 19 RBIs and 12 walks. Chu has posted a .373 on-base percentage and a .308 slugging percentage. He has stolen four bases on the 2018 season. As a catcher, he has a .977 fielding percentage with 13 runners caught stealing on the season. In 2017, Chu had a short season with just nine at-bats with four runs scored and three RBIs. As a freshman in 2016, he was selected as Second Team All-Coast-Golden Gate Conference. Chu hit .250 as a freshman with nine runs scored, one home run and five RBIs. Defensively, he threw out nine runners as a catcher. He was a teammate of current Golden Eagle assistant coach James Cullinane during his freshman year at City College of San Francisco. The program has also produced former Minnesota Crookston players Jason Angelo and Zac Carrillo.

Personal: Chu is the son of Kevin and Penny Chu. He plans to major in exercise science and wellness. Chu was born April 2, 1997.
