Game One
The Golden Eagles would start fast, using a Panthers error to strike first, allowing Rayna French (So., C/UT, La Salle, Manitoba) to score from third.
Minnesota Crookston would add some cushion in the third. Megan Surgenor (Fr., C/P, Andover, Minn.) would double deep to center field, scoring Chayse Doering (So., CF, Shakopee, Minn.) and French. Surgenor would come in to score two batters later on a Valerie VanZant (Fr., MIF, Salina, Kan.) sacrifice fly.
In the top of the fourth, DU would tie it with four runs on five hits, tying the game at four.
With two outs in the bottom of the fourth, Doering's fantastic three games in Florida continued, as she would hit her second career inside-the-park homerun, scoring French and Emily Kalina (Fr., OF/LHP, Rice Lake, Wis.) to regain the lead for the maroon and gold.
DU would strike for six runs in a row to upend the Golden Eagles to start the morning.
Doering led the way with three hits, her second three hit day in three games in Florida. Kalina, Surgenor, VanZant and Murray each had a hit for a total of seven.
Delaney Penner (So., P, Winkler, Manitoba) got the start for the second straight game and gave up nine hits in four innings of work, while giving up five earned runs and striking out five. Gabrielle Gomez (So., P/1B, Lakewood, Calif.) finished the game off, giving up just one earned run on four Panther hits.
Game Two
The theme of Florida for the Golden Eagles has been early leads and that continued in game two against Walsh. The Golden Eagles would score a run in the second on a VanZant RBI single and Doering would stay hot with another hit, this time scoring Kalina.
Trailing 2-0, the Cavaliers would storm back and take a 4-2 lead with four runs in a row.
Trailing in the sixth, the Golden Eagles would take a 5-4 lead, with the big hit coming off the bat of Riley Blake (So., OF/P, Las Vegas. Nev.), a two run double, giving the Golden Eagles a 5-4 lead.
In the seventh, Doering would add some insurance with another RBI hit, giving the Golden Eagles a two-run lead heading into the last inning, which would be enough for VanZant, who was fantastic in relief.
The Golden Eagles finished with 12 more hits in the game, giving them 41 through four games in the Sunshine State. Blake, Kalina, Doering and VanZant each had two hits.
VanZant earned the first win of her career, going 4.1 innings of relief, giving up three runs on three hits.
