Hudson, Wis. – Minnesota Crookston women's golf finished in eighth place out of 14 teams at the MSU/CSP Fall Brawl in Hudson, Wis. The Golden Eagles got as high as fifth place during the final round, but ended where they closed out round one.
Minnesota State controlled the tournament from the first tee box, winning the tournament by 10 strokes over Washburn. Winona State, Northwest Missouri State and Concordia-St. Paul rounded out the top five but were more than 30 strokes from the leaders.
Victoria Woytassek of Minnesota State won the tournament by a stroke over Addi Wood of Concordia-St. Paul.
The Golden Eagles finished five strokes ahead of St. Catherine's University for eighth place.
The maroon and gold were led overall by
Emma Pierson (Fr., Cherry Valley, Ill.) and
Ainsley McLain (Jr., Grafton, N.D.), who each finished in a tie for 19
th. McLain used a pair of birdies on the final round to improve upon her score by four strokes to finish in 19
th. Pierson finished the tournament 16 strokes over par.
Anaka Lysne (Sr., Wahpeton, N.D.) was outstanding during the final round, shooting eight over on the day to catapult up the leaderboards and finish in 34
th.
Lauren Bowyer (Sr., Ivanhoe, Minn.) had two birdies on the day to finish in 57
th, while
Libby Dulmage (Jr., Leeds, N.D.) finished in 73
rd.
The eighth-place finish for the maroon and gold made it back-to-back tournaments in the top 10, following a second-place finish at the Tracy Lane Memorial a weekend ago.
Minnesota Crookston will now compete at the Winona State Invite in Lake City, Minn., next Monday and Tuesday.
