BURNSVILLE, Minn. - University of Minnesota Crookston student-athletes Clara Hanson (Sr., Grand Forks, N.D.) of the women's golf team, and Sawyer Satrom (Sr., Portland, N.D.) were named NSIC Honor Student-Athlete recipients from the University of Minnesota Crookston for the 2024-25 season.
Hanson and Satrom were the University of Minnesota Crookston's nominees for the prestigious Britton and Kelly Awards from the NSIC. The member institutions of the NSIC nominate one male and one female student-athlete for the Britton and Kelly Awards. The nominees must meet the following criteria: a grade point average of 3.5 or better (on a 4.0 scale); evidence of academic excellence beyond the minimum grade point average (scholarship prizes and other academic recognition), evidence of participation in the life of the institution, and evidence of participation in at least two-thirds of the varsity events of the individual's primary sport. The award is voted on by the NSIC Faculty Athletic Representatives.
The 30 student-athletes nominated for the NSIC's two most prestigious awards will also be recognized as NSIC Male and Female Honor Student-Athletes of the Year at their respective institutions. Dierks and Andrews will be recognized Tuesday, July 8 at the NSIC Hall of Fame Banquet in Moorhead, Minnesota and will each receive a $3,000 post-graduate scholarship.
Hanson was a stand-out on the golf course for the Golden Eagles over four years and was also greatly involved in the campus community during her time at Minnesota Crookston. Hanson finished with an unblemished 4.0 GPA in english and marketing. She will go on to law school at the University of North Dakota. Hanson was a NSIC Myles Brand All-Academic with Distinction honoree for 2024-25. She was a staple on the Chancellor's List. In addition, she was the school's Scholar-Athlete of the Year, Admissions Student Ambassador of the Year, Outstanding Marketing Student of the Year, Outstanding English Student of the Year, and U of M Crookston Student of the Year.
Satrom was a staple on the baseball diamond during his time as a Golden Eagle, as an infielder. He was a staple on the Chancellor's List and Dean's List over his time at Minnesota Crookston. Satrom finished with a 3.87 GPA in agricultural business and finance. Satrom was a NSIC Myles Brand All-Academic with Distinction honoree. In addition, Satrom was the Outstanding Finance Student of the Year.
