Minnesota Crookston Equestrian Set to Face Baylor, and South Dakota State in NCEA Meets in Brookings

CROOKSTON, Minn. - The University of Minnesota Crookston equestrian team is set for a pair of NCEA meets in Brookings, S.D., at the DeHaan Equestrian Center. The Golden Eagles will face No. 9 Baylor University Friday, March 7, and will face South Dakota State University Saturday, March 8. Friday's meet will commence at 2:30 p.m., while the Golden Eagles will face the Jackrabbits starting at 12:30 p.m. Saturday.

The Golden Eagles last competed against the University of Tennessee-Martin, and Auburn University in Auburn, Ala. Kristen Borchert (Jr., Coon Rapids, Minn.) put forth her season-high ride in Fences with an 84. Alexandra Wentland (Sr., Colorado Springs, Colo.) picked up a point for the Golden Eagles in Fences with a 77, while Borchert picked up the high score in flat against UT-Martin with a 71.

Against the Skyhawks, the Golden Eagles picked up Horsemanship victories from Hailey Hanson (Fr., Inver Grove Heights, Minn.), Madison Wojcek (So., Bremerton, Wash.), Ava Jo Glenn (So., Ennis, Texas), and Marley Halse (So., Mountlake Terrace, Wash.). In Reining, Wojcek picked up a win, while Madison Wachtel (So., Wells, Nev.) had the high score against the Skyhawks.

Against Auburn, Minnesota Crookston had a strong showing from Belle Syrett (So., Winnipeg, Manitoba), who had one of the best NCEA performances the Golden Eagles have posted in Flat with an 81. In Horsemanship, Glenn notched the high score with a 72.5, while Halse had the high score in Reining with a 68.


This will be the final tune-up for the Golden Eagles before the ECAC Championship in Martin, Tenn., March 27-29.
