Minnesota Crookston Equestrian Opens ECAC Championship Against South Dakota State Thursday

CROOKSTON, Minn. - The University of Minnesota Crookston equestrian team is set to compete at the 2025 ECAC Championship commencing Thursday, March 27 with a match-up commencing at 12 p.m., against South Dakota State University. The ECAC Championship is hosted by the University of Tennessee-Martin at the Ned McWherter Agricultural Campus in Martin, Tenn. The winner of Thursday's meet will advance to face No. 1 seed University of Tennessee-Martin Friday, March 28 at 10 a.m.

The Golden Eagles have shown great growth in ECAC and NCEA competition in 2024-25, winning their most-ever MOP's, and posting competitive showings with the University of South Carolina (six points), UT-Martin (six points), and South Dakota State (six points). The Golden Eagles have faced the Jackrabbits twice this season, falling 12-4 November 2, and 11-6 March 8.

The Golden Eagles posted MOP performances from Emma Mutnansky (Fr., Cass Lake, Minn.) in Horsemanship against South Dakota State, and Ava Jo Glenn (So., Ennis, Texas) in Horsemanship versus Baylor in their last two NCEA competitions. 

Minnesota Crookston is coming off one of their best performances of the season against SDSU. Alexandra Wentland (Sr., Colorado Springs, Colo.) posted her best score of the season with an 80 in Fences against the Jackrabbits. Kaylynn Berry (Fr., Louisville, Ky.) posted her season-high tally of 75 in Fences.

Kristen Borchert (Jr., Coon Rapids, Minn.) posted the best score of the season in Fences with an 84 versus UT-Martin. Belle Syrett (So., Winnipeg, Manitoba) has the highest score in Flat, with an 81 against Auburn. In Horsemanship, Madison Wojcek (So., Bremerton, Wash.) has the highest score of the season with a 76.5 versus Delaware State. Samantha Lyons (So., Lisbon, N.D.) has the highest score in Reining with a 71 versus Fresno State.
