Minnesota Crookston Baseball Picks Up Extra-Inning Win Over Augie

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - The University of Minnesota Crookston baseball team picked up an extra-inning win over No. 24 Augustana University 6-4 Sunday, March 23 at Ronken Field in Sioux Falls, S.D. Josh Dykhoff (Jr., DH, Wadena, Minn.) hit a two-run home run in the ninth to knot the game up. Kyler Miller (Fr., IF, Grand Rapids, Minn.) hit an RBI single, which proved to be the game winner, in the top of the 10th.

The Golden Eagles improved to 9-13 (6-6 NSIC) with Sunday's win. Augustana dropped to 13-8 (8-4 NSIC). Minnesota Crookston picked up the series split with the Vikings, and are 4-2 in their last six tilts.

Isaac Wensloff (Jr., RHP, Roseau, Minn.) started the game and tossed 4.2 innings, allowing four runs on eight hits. Wensloff struck out four, and walked three. Max Weber (R-Sr., RHP, St. Paul, Minn.) pitched a scoreless 1.1 innings. Caden Edwards (R-Sr., LHP, Duluth, Minn.) threw a scoreless 1.2 innings. Isaac Roers (R-Jr., RHP, Stacy, Minn.) got the win to move to 2-2. Roers tossed a scoreless 1.1 innings. Nate Grafsgaard (R-Sr., RHP, Devils Lake, N.D.) picked up his fourth save of the season, notching a scoreless 10th inning.

The loss for the Vikings went to Ryan Clementi, after allowing one earned run on four hits in one frame. Kai Taylor started and went three innings, giving up two unearned runs.

The Golden Eagles were guided by stand-out freshman Dylan Debilzen (Fr., OF, Parkers Prairie, Minn.), their leadoff man, who went 3-of-5, with an RBI, and two runs scored. Sawyer Satrom (Sr., IF, Portland, N.D.) went 2-of-6, with a run scored. Dykhoff finished 2-of-4, with three RBI, and a run scored. Kyler Miller came off the bench, going 1-of-2, with an RBI, and a run scored.

Minnesota Crookston took a 1-0 advantage when Americo Sculati (R-Jr., OF, Golden Valley, Minn.) singled through the right side, plating Debilzen. 

The Vikings took a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the first. Jack Hines hit a two-run shot over the fence in left center, scoring Bjorn Lind.

Augustana stranded the bases loaded in the bottom of the second, but were unable to capitalize on the opportunity. 

The Golden Eagles answered the bell in the top of the third with a Dykhoff double, scoring Debilzen.

The Vikings took the lead back 3-2 in the bottom of the third with a Joshua Koskie sacrifice fly, scoring Jason Axelberg. Koskie is the son of former Minnesota Twin Corey Koskie. Augustana stranded three more runners on base, after Isaac Wensloff pitched out of a tricky situation.

Augustana took a 4-2 advantage when Sam Siegel singled in Koskie. Weber got a crucial groundout, to again strand three Viking runners in the bottom of the fifth.

The score remained 4-2 until the top of the ninth. With one on, Dykhoff powered his fifth home run of the season, plating Satrom and knotting the game 4-4.

The Golden Eagles took a 6-4 advantage in the top of the 10th. Kyler Miller singled to left field, scoring Connor Bushbaum (R-Jr., OF, Saginaw, Minn.) to make it 5-4. Minnesota Crookston moved it to 6-4 with a Debilzen double, plating Kyler Miller.

Augustana loaded the bases in the bottom of the 10th, but Grafsgaard got Axelberg to ground into a fielder's choice for the final out, preserving the 6-4 win.

The Golden Eagles are set to take on Concordia-St. Paul in their home debut March 28 at 1:30 p.m.
