AUBURN, Ala. - The University of Minnesota Crookston equestrian squad had a strong showing against No. 9 University of Tennessee-Martin Friday, February 7 at the Auburn Equestrian Center but fell 13-6. The Golden Eagles tied their most points of the season from earlier this season against the University of South Carolina. In addition, Minnesota Crookston fell at No. 1 Auburn.
Kristen Borchert (jr., Coon Rapids, Minn.) tied in Fences with her season-high ride with an 84 on Georgie against Bridget Vieau. Alexandra Wentland (Sr., Colorado Springs, Colo.) earned a point with a 77-76 victory over Elizabeth Becker on Cloud against UT-Martin. Borchert had the U of M Crookston's high score in Flat, with a 71 on Jasper.
Minnesota Crookston had a strong showing in Horsemanship. Hailey Hanson (Fr., Inver Grove Heights, Minn.) defeated Lexi Bailey on Boomer 71-69.5. Marley Halse (So., Mountlake Terrace, Wash.) notched a 71.5-71 victory on Chopper. Madison Wojcek (So., Bremerton, Wash.) captured a 72.5-69 win on JoJo, while Ava Jo Glenn (So., Ennis, Texas) notched a 72-69.5 win on Bullet.
In Reining, Madison Wachtel (So., Wells, Nev.) had the high score, with a 69.5 on Shrek, but fell in her match-up. Wojcek earned a 67.5-67 win on Reba, while Samantha Lyons (Fr., Lisbon, N.D.), and Halse scored 68.5.
Against Auburn, Minnesota Crookston's best performance came from Belle Syrett (So., Winnipeg, Manitoba) with a 70 on Bebe. Syrett had one of the best NCEA performances the Golden Eagles have had in Flat with an 81 on Dash, but she fell narrowly. Wentland had a 77, while Borchert notched a 75 to earn a tie, as the Golden Eagles competed well.
In Horsemanship, Glenn tallied the high score for Minnesota Crookston with a 72.5 on Victor, while Halse notched a 71.5 on Boomer. Wojcek picked up a 71 on Palmer.
In Reining, Halse tallied the high tally with a 68, while Hanson and Wachtel each notched 67.5.
