La Crosse, Wisc. - The Golden Eagle Hockey Team officially knows their next opponent at the Central Regionals, with the first day officially over, and it will be Marian University. This is the first time that the Golden Eagles and Sabres have met. The Golden Eagles and Sabres are set for a 10:30 a.m. puck drop.

On day one of the tournament, the Golden Eagles played to their strengths. They dominated the time of possession due to their speed and physicality. They were able to put the game out of reach before the end of the first period. Against the Sabres, the Golden Eagles will hope to achieve the same success. The Sabres, who finished fifth in the Central Region, will have to attempt to contain the Golden Eagles speed and keep up the pace if they are unable to contain it.

The Golden Eagles Player to Watch for this matchup is Anthony Foster (So., F, Warroad, Minn.) who played an incredible game against Adrian College in the first round. Foster was a huge factor in the Golden Eagles first round win, as he made multiple plays to set the tone. Foster's quick thinking on the ice will be a key piece if the Golden Eagles are to win this game.

A win in this game would put the Golden Eagles one win away from a trip to Nationals, which would mark the first Nationals appearance in program history. All that stands between the Golden Eagles and that achievement is two wins and at least 120 minutes of hockey, which sounds much closer than it feels. But, for now, the focus will remain on Marian University.
