Minot, N.D. – Minot State picked up their first sweep and first conference win of the season on Saturday afternoon, controlling the match with the Golden Eagles in three sets (23-25, 23-25, 21-25).
Minnesota Crookston falls to 6-11 overall.
Set One
It wouldn't be the start in set one that would be the issue for the Golden Eagles.
Adrienne Venditto (Fr., DS, Bovey, Minn.) would give the Golden Eagles a 6-3 lead with a service ace.
Moments later,
Emma Malek (Jr., MH, Plainfield, Ill.) would give the Golden Eagles a 9-5 lead with a kill.
The set would later be tied at 15, but two straight points by the Golden Eagles would regain a two point advantage.
Minot State would lead 21-19, but two kills from
Madison Carsten would catapult the Golden Eagles back in front by a point.
The set would be tied at 23 following a
Carizma Muth (R-So., OH, Randolph, Wis.) kill, but MSU would score the final two points for the set one win.
Set Two
Once again, it would be an outstanding start for the Golden Eagles, who would lead by a field goal through the first three points.
The set would be tight following those early three points, but MSU would lead 18-14 late in the set, but the Golden Eagles would get within one numerous times, but errors would kill the Golden Eagles in the second set, losing by two.
Set Three
In a do-or-die set for the Golden Eagles, they would not get off to a fast start.
MSU would lead 7-3, but three straight points by the Golden Eagles would cut the set to just a point at 7-6.
MSU would control the set from that point and win the set by four to earn the sweep.
