Crookston, Minn. - The Golden Eagles and Huskies returned for game two of the weekend following the 15-0 Golden Eagles win. For the Golden Eagles, Tyler Swanson (Fr., G, Moorhead, Minn.) took the net for his third start of the season. He enters the game with a 2-0-0 record, a 1.00 goals against average and a .920 save percentage. For the Huskies it would be Chris Herkdle with a 5-1-0 record, a 3.69 goals against average and a .890 save percentage.
Things got started extremely early, as Tyler Lorenz (Fr., D, Shakopee, Minn.) opened the scoring with an unassisted goal just 43 seconds into the opening period. Logan Syrup (Sr., F, Park River, N.D.) scored another goal for the Golden Eagles just 40 seconds later with Tristan Morneault (Sr., F, Dieppe, New Brunswick) and Steven Musokranov (So., D, Plymouth, Minn.) collected the assists. A minute and a half later, Logan Syrup collected his second goal, this time he was assisted by Fox Dodds (R-Jr., F, Watford City, N.D.) and Tristan Morneault. The Golden Eagles continued their crushing effort, pouring shots on net and dominating time of possession. Landon Syrup (Jr., F, Park River, N.D.) was the next Golden Eagle on the scoreboard, scoring his first of the season. He was assisted by Thomas Fuller (So., F, Bloomington, Minn.) and Dalston Kelly (So., F, Grafton, N.D.)
The first period scoring would continue just two minutes later as Jackson Dodds (R-Jr., F, Watford City, N.D.) made the score 5-0. Fox Dodds added a goal of his own three minutes after, Logan Syrup and Alexander Bailey (R-Jr., D, Crosby, N.D.) collected the helpers. With just under two minutes remaining, Alexander Bailey added on to the blowout, he was assisted by Aiden Morelli (Jr., F, Minot, N.D.) and Ben Hines (So., F, Detroit Lakes, Minn.) With 49 seconds on the clock, Fox Dodds scored his second of the game, Tristan Morneault collected his third assist of the night, with Zach Larson (Sr., D, Grand Forks, N.D.) adding his first. The first period came to a close with an 8-0 score.
The second period started strong for the Golden Eagles, as Mason Romfo (Fr., F, Langdon, N.D.) scored another goal on the season, Tyler Lorenz and Jackson Dodds were credited with the assists. Fox Dodds scored his hat trick goal two minutes later with Logan Syrup assisting for his fourth point of the night. Following the goal, The Golden Eagles turned the net to Braden Schmitz (R-Jr., G, Devils Lake, N.D.) Jackson Fuller (Sr., F, Bloomington, Minn.) made it 11-0 with just five minutes left in the middle frame. Ben Hines and Aiden Morelli had the assists.
The third period had a lot less action, with just one goal in total but plenty of shots. Braden Schmitz shut down all six shots he faced throughout the period and a half he played. The Golden Eagles added one final goal, with Mason Romfo scoring his second of the game, Jackson Dodds had the lone assist. The Golden Eagles closed out the game, winning 12-0 and outshooting the Huskies 69-11.
The Golden Eagles will play their final series before the conference tournament next week on the road against St. Thomas.
