Golden Eagles Set New Record for Most Goals in a Game with 15-0 Route

Crookston, Minn. - The Golden Eagles and Huskies were ready for their Friday night matchup. Adam Goody (So., G, Airdrie, Alberta) got the start for the Golden Eagles, entering the game with 6-3-0 record along with a 3.00 goals against average and a .904 save percentage. For the Huskies, it was Brayden Mackie with a 5-5-0 record, a 5.30 goals against average and a .877 save percentage. 

 

The Golden Eagles opened the game with a flurry of goals, scoring eight in the opening 20. Anthony Foster (So., F, Warroad, Minn.) would open the scoring less than two minutes into the opening frame. The Golden Eagles would then play the possession game, as they held onto the puck for the next five and a half minutes before Tristan Morneault (Sr., F, Dieppe, New Brunswick) zipped one past the glove of Mackie, Zach Larson (Sr., D, Grand Forks, N.D.) and Logan Syrup (Sr., F, Park River, N.D.) added assists. Seven seconds later, Zach Larson scored the third goal of the first 10 minutes. Tyler Lorenz (Fr., D, Shakopee, Minn.) and Dylan Neubauer (Sr., D, Grand Forks, N.D.) collected the helpers. A minute and a half later, Mason Romfo (Fr., F, Langdon, N.D.) scored to make it 4-0, he was assisted by Alexander Bailey (R-Jr., D, Crosby, N.D.) and Adam Goody

 

The Golden Eagles were dominating on both ends and had yet to surrender a shot through the first 10 minutes. Jackson Dodds (R-Jr., F, Watford City, N.D.) scored his first goal of the game, with Mason Romfo and Anthony Foster assisting. 10 seconds later, Jackson Dodds scored his second of the game with Aidan McPhee (So., D, Brea, Calif.) and Anthony Foster would collect the assists. The Golden Eagles were not done with the first period scoring, as Jackson Fuller (Sr., F, Bloomington, Minn.) made it 7-0 in his first game back from injury, Aiden Morelli (Jr., F, Minot, N.D.) had the lone assist. Thomas Fuller (So., F, Bloomington, Minn.) would finish the first period scoring with Rudy Moser (Fr., F, Langdon, N.D.) and Mitchell Coleman (Sr., F, Hatton, N.D.) assisting.

 

The second period was underway and just like that, the goal scoring continued. Two and a half minutes into the frame, Aiden Morelli notched a goal of his own, this time it was Dalston Kelly (So., F, Grafton, N.D.) and Aidan McPhee with the assists. Jackson Dodds completed the hat trick 10 minutes later, and Anthony Foster had the assist. Alexander Bailey scored with just under five minutes remaining in the second to make it an 11-0 game. The second period came to a close with the shots at 35-4 in favor of the Golden Eagles.

 

Aiden Morelli would add to his point total on the night with his second of the game just three minutes into the final 20. This goal was assisted by Alexander Bailey and Tyler Lorenz. Less than a minute later, it was 13-0 off of a goal from Mitchell Coleman, his goal was assisted by Rudy Moser and Zach Larson. Thomas Fuller kept the dominant performance from the fourth line rolling with his second goal of the game with just over eight minutes left, Rudy Moser and Aidan McPhee each picked up their third assists of the game. Mason Romfo would score the games final goal with just over four minutes remaining, Anthony Foster collected his team leading fourth assist of the night, while Jackson Dodds picked up his fourth point of the night with the secondary assist. The Golden Eagles would also pick up a shutout with Adam Goody stopping the seven shots he faced. The Golden Eagles won the game 15-0, outshooting the Huskies 58-7.

 

The Golden Eagles and Huskies return to action tomorrow at 2 p.m.
