Duluth, Minn. – Minnesota Duluth scored 55 points in the first half and 52 points in the second half to cruise to a 107-67 win over Minnesota Crookston on Saturday afternoon in Duluth.
Minnesota Crookston falls to 3-15 (2-10 NSIC) on the season.
Minnesota Crookston would take a pair of early leads on buckets from
Andrew Stokes (Jr., F, Westchester, Ill.) and
Micah Garrett (Jr., G, Portland, Ore.), as the Golden Eagles would lead 6-5 early on.
UMD would take a 12-6 lead, but
Reid Grant (Sr., G, Johnston, Iowa) would sink a bucket in the paint to cut the lead to 12-8.
UMD would extend their lead out to 20, but Stokes would halt the Bulldog run with a layup in the paint.
UMD would take a 28 point lead heading into the halftime break.
Minnesota Duluth would hold off the Golden in the second half, cruising to the 40 point win.
Minnesota Crookston finished with five in double-figures, as the maroon and gold would be led by Stokes and his 13 points on 5-6 shooting from the field.
Caiden Swenby (Fr., G, Fertile, Minn.) finished with a career-high 12 points, while Garrett finished with 11 points. Grant and
Landon Dimler (Fr., F, Mankato, Minn.) each added 10 points.
UMD shot 60 percent on the night.
