Crookston, Minn. - The Golden Eagles are riding the high of a four game win streak, while also winning seven of their last eight games, and look to keep the good times rolling against the University of Minnesota Duluth. This weekend's matchup will be just the second series between these two teams in program history.

The Golden Eagles struggled the one time these two teams did meet, with a record of 0-1-1. Those two games finished 6-4 and 4-4 and took place back in the 2022-2023 season. A lot has changed since then, with only 10 members of the Golden Eagles that played that year left on the roster. The Bulldogs enter this weekend with a 4-9-1 overall record, going 1-7-0 in conference play. The Bulldogs have a -20 goal differential when playing conference opponents. The University of Minnesota Duluth enters this weekend in the opposite way that the Golden Eagles do, having lost four straight.

Logan Syrup (Sr., F, Park River, N.D.) is this week's Golden Eagles Player to Watch. Syrup is one of the 10 players from the Golden Eagles team that has played against the University of Minnesota Duluth, a matchup in which he registered three assists in the two games played, and will look to boost his team to their first two wins against the Bulldogs. Syrup, the all-time Golden Eagles leading scorer, comes into the weekend with seven goals and nine assists for 16 points in 18 games. He will be hoping to get his name on the scoreboard in an effort to extend the Golden Eagles win streak to six.

It was another high scoring weekend for the Golden Eagles, scoring 12 total goals over the two games played. This has become a common thing for this team, scoring five or more goals in 11 of their 14 wins this season. It will also be a meaningful weekend for the netminders. The Golden Eagles goaltending trio has a combined 2.45 goals against average, along with a combined .912 save percentage. The four game winning streak has seen just seven goals against, with two of those games being shutouts.

The Golden Eagles and Bulldogs will take the ice Friday, January 17th at 7 p.m. and then again on Saturday, January 18th at 12 p.m. Following this weekend, the Golden Eagles will take on St. Cloud State to wrap-up their home schedule for the 2024-2025 season.
