Box Score JAMESTOWN, N.D. - The University of Minnesota Crookston soccer team fell 3-0 to the University of Jamestown Sunday, September 29 in Jamestown, N.D. The Jimmies scored a goal in the first half, and two in the second to secure the victory.
Sunday's game was the final non-conference tilt of 2024 for the Golden Eagles. Minnesota Crookston and Jamestown will be NSIC foes starting in 2025. The Golden Eagles dropped to 1-5-1 (1-2 NSIC) after the loss. The Golden Eagles picked up the split this week, following a 2-1 win Thursday over the University of Sioux Falls. The Jimmies improved to 4-5 with the win.
Minnesota Crookston notched five shots, with two shots on goal. Sydney Christopherson (Fr., MF/F, Sioux Falls, S.D.), Andrea Cuenca Medina (Fr., MF, St. Paul, Minn.), Emmah Burnes (So., MF, Tulare, Calif.), Brooklyn Fischbach (Sr., F, South St. Paul, Minn.), and Marsia Green (So., MF/F, Waconia, Minn.) were responsible for shots for the Golden Eagles.
The Jimmies finished with 17 shots, seven on frame. Jamestown was guided by six shots from Gaby Sarkins. Vega Canada and Alyssa Caton each added three.
Jamestown broke the scoreless tie in the 21st minute when Haley Nelson scored off a Hillary Hernandez assist.
Early in the second half, Sidney Mikes scored off a Caton helper to push the Jamestown lead to 2-0. Sarkis put a stamp on the win with a goal in the 77th minute off a Bre Oettle assist.
In goal, Emma Stempien (Sr., GK, Plymouth, Mich.) played 45 minutes, allowing a goal on four shots, with three saves. Jordan Metz (Fr., GK, Lino Lakes, Minn.) played the final 45 minutes, allowing two goals on three shots, with one save.
Isa Garcia played 39:46 in net for the Jimmies, combining for the shutout. Allyson Johnson made two saves in the final 50:14.
The Golden Eagles host Southwest Minnesota State University Friday, October 4 at 3 p.m.
