CROOKSTON, Minn. - The University of Minnesota Crookston equestrian team will compete in the NCEA Meet of the Week Friday, March 1 against the University of Tennessee-Martin at the Ned McWherter Agricultural Complex in Martin, Tenn. The Golden Eagles have been a part of two NCEA Meet's of the Week this season.
The Golden Eagles come into the weekend with an 0-4 NCEA mark, while UT-Martin is 4-7. Minnesota Crookston is coming off their best showing in an NCEA meet in the program's history, as they fell 14-6 at South Dakota State University February 10.
Minnesota Crookston was paced by Juliana Gullo (So., Itasca, Ill.) picking up an 81-80 win over Kayla Scherer on Mambo in Fences. Belle Syrett (Fr., Winnipeg, Manitoba) earned an 81-78 victory over Hannah Steele on Enrique. In Flat, Alex Pfaffenbach (Sr., Appleton, Wis.) picked up a 65-60 victory over Virginia Kiecker on Ozzie.
In Horsemanship. Ava Glenn (Fr., Ennis, Texas) earned a 70-67.5 victory over Annika Hanson on Milo. Madison Wojcek (Fr., Bremerton, Wash.) picked up a 69.5-67.5 win against Brighton McBride on Marshal. In Reining, Madison Wojcek (Fr., Bremerton, Wash.) defeated McBride 70-68.5 on Lucy.
The Golden Eagles also got a strong score from Gabriella Siefkes (Jr., Aberdeen, S.D.) on Joey. In Flat, Gullo had a strong output. Minnesota Crookston had strong rides in Horsemanship from Madison Wachtel (Fr., Wells, Nev.), RaeAnna Danielson (So., Harris, Minn.), Wojcek, and Marley Halse (Fr., Mountlake Terrace, Wash.). Halse also had a strong showing in Reining.
This season, Minnesota Crookston's best score has been in Fences, an 82, which has been accomplished three times. Siefkes (South Dakota State), Alexandra Wentland (South Dakota State), and Gullo (Delaware State).
Minnesota Crookston's top score in flat was a 78 by Gullo (South Dakota State).
The Golden Eagles top tally in Horsemanship was a 75.5 from Wojcek (South Dakota State). Minnesota Crookston's best score this season in Reining has been a 73.5 from Halse (Delaware State).
The meet commences at 9 a.m. In Fences, the high score for the Skyhawks this season has been an 88 against Auburn by Sydney Hott. In Flat, UT-Martin's best score came from Sophia Sundem, with an 88 versus Auburn. In Horsemanship, Emma Schaefer's 76 has been the best tally of the season, while Lexi Bailey's 74.5 in Reining has been the best for the Skyhawks.
