Minnesota Crookston Equestrian Puts Up Most Wins in A Meet in 14-6 Loss to South Dakota State

BROOKINGS, S.D. - The University of Minnesota Crookston equestrian team put forth their best NCEA meet in their history as a program Saturday, February 10, as they fell 14-6 to South Dakota State University at the DeHaan Equestrian Center in Brookings, S.D. The Golden Eagles put up their most wins in a meet ever, and thus their most against the Jackrabbits.

The Golden Eagles fall to 0-4 in NCEA play, but have shown considerable gains since falling 16-2 to the Jackrabbits in November. South Dakota State improved to 3-5 with the win.

Minnesota Crookston was paced by Juliana Gullo (So., Itasca, Ill.) picking up an 81-80 win over Kayla Scherer on Mambo in Fences. Belle Syrett (Fr., Winnipeg, Manitoba) earned an 81-78 victory over Hannah Steele on Enrique. In Flat, Alex Pfaffenbach (Sr., Appleton, Wis.) picked up a 65-60 victory over Virginia Kiecker on Ozzie.

In Horsemanship. Ava Glenn (Fr., Ennis, Texas) earned a 70-67.5 victory over Annika Hanson on Milo. Madison Wojcek (Fr., Bremerton, Wash.) picked up a 69.5-67.5 win against Brighton McBride on Marshal. In Reining, Madison Wojcek (Fr., Bremerton, Wash.) defeated McBride 70-68.5 on Lucy.

The Golden Eagles also got a strong score from Gabriella Siefkes (Jr., Aberdeen, S.D.) on Joey. In Flat, Gullo had a strong output. Minnesota Crookston had strong rides in Horsemanship from Madison Wachtel (Fr., Wells, Nev.), RaeAnna Danielson (So., Harris, Minn.), Wojcek, and Marley Halse (Fr., Mountlake Terrace, Wash.). Halse also had a strong showing in Reining.

Minnesota Crookston's next NCEA meet will take place March 1 at the University of Tennessee-Martin.
