Box Score WAYNE, Neb. - The University of Minnesota Crookston soccer team fell 5-0 to Wayne State College Sunday, October 27 in Wayne, Neb.
The Golden Eagles dropped to 1-12-2 (1-9-1 NSIC) with Sunday's loss. The Wildcats improved to 5-5-5 (4-3-4 NSIC) with the win.
Minnesota Crookston finished with 15 shots, with four on goal. The 15 shots were the third-most for the Golden Eagles this season. Wayne State notched 27 shots, with 16 on goal. Greta Saylor (Sr., MF, New Brighton, Minn.) paced the Golden Eagles with three shots. Sydney Christopherson (Fr., MF, Sioux Falls, S.D.), Callie Holthaus (Fr., F, Richmond, Minn.), and Brooklyn Fischbach (Sr., F, South St. Paul, Minn.) all notched two shots.
Wayne State was guided by five shots from Paige Pemberton. Rachel Davis tallied four shots.
The Wildcats took a 1-0 advantage in the 20th minute when Kaylee Herall scored off a Pemberton helper. Just over 10 minutes later in the 31st minute Halena Handel found the back of the net on an unassisted goal to make it 2-0. Wayne State added a third first-half goal in the 37th minute from Morgan Rhodes.
Wayne State added a fourth goal in the 47th minute in the second half when Pemberton scored off a helper from Maia Vacks. The Wildcats extended their lead to 5-0 in the 73rd minute when Alyssa Ferin scored on a penalty kick.
In goal, Emma Stempien (Sr., GK, Plymouth, Mich.) allowed five goals, and made 11 saves. For the Wildcats, Alexa Hofstetter allowed no goals, and made three saves. Sidney Truman allowed no goals, and made a save.
Minnesota Crookston will return home for a final weekend this season, as they host Concordia University-St. Paul Friday, November 1, and Minnesota State University Sunday, November 3.
