ABERDEEN, S.D. - The University of Minnesota Crookston soccer team fell 3-0 to Northern State University Sunday, October 13 in Aberdeen, S.D. The Golden Eagles allowed one goal in the first half, and two in the second, as they fell to the Wolves.
Northern State improved to 5-4-3 (4-2-2 NSIC) with Sunday's win at home. The Golden Eagles dropped to 1-8-2 (1-5-1 NSIC). Minnesota Crookston is in a four-way tie for 12th with Southwest Minnesota State University, Minnesota State University Moorhead, and University of Minnesota Duluth.
The Golden Eagles finished the game with five shots, with one shot on goal. Greta Saylor (Sr., MF, New Brighton, Minn.) paced the team with two shots. Emmah Burnes (So., MF, Tulare, Calif.), Sarah Burgum (Jr., F, Mandan, N.D.), and Kedin Geremiah (So., F, Winnipeg, Manitoba) all notched one shot. Northern State finished with 18 shots, with 11 on frame. Chloe Voss led Northern State with four. The Wolves had eight corner kicks to one for Minnesota Crookston, as they were able to generate set pieces. Minnesota Crookston had nine fouls to six for the Wolves.
Sophie Taylor put the Wolves on the board in the seventh minute off an assist from Eva Larson to make it 1-0. The Golden Eagles were able to hold the deficit at 1-0 for the remainder of the period.
Northern State extended the advantage to 2-0 in the 63rd minute off an unassisted goal from Abby Missman. They solidified the 3-0 win with an 88th minute tally from Lauren Youngquist off a Lauren Carpenter helper.
Minnesota Crookston returns home to host University of Mary Friday, October 18 at 3 p.m., in Bismarck, N.D.
