No. 12 MSU Moorhead Defeats Minnesota Crookston on Tuesday Night

Moorhead, Minn. – Minnesota Crookston hit Highway-75 and headed South looking to avenge their earlier season loss to No. 12 MSU Moorhead on Tuesday night.
 
MSUM would prove why they are a top-15 team in the nation and pull away in the second half for a 76-49 victory over the Golden Eagles.
 
Aguek Deng (Jr., F, Des Moines, Iowa) would get the Golden Eagles on the board on the first possession of the game with a hook shot in the paint.
 
The Dragons would score the next nine points, but Reid Grant (Jr., G, Johnston, Iowa) would knock down a three to cut the lead to four.
 
MSUM would take a 17-7 lead, but Blaize Sagna (Jr., G, London, England) would bury a three and Grant would finish a tough floater in the paint to cut the Dragons lead to a touchdown at 19-12.
 
MSUM would hit back-to-back threes to extend their lead to 13, but Jordan Mitchell (r-Jr., F, Columbus, Ohio) would finish a crafty reverse finish to cut the Dragons lead to 11.
 
The rest of the half would see MSUM extend their lead to 20 late in the half, but a Ben Hoverson (Jr., F, Grand Forks, N.D.) three and a pair of free throws from Grant would cut the Golden Eagle deficit to 15.
 
MSUM would take a 41-26 lead into the halftime break.
 
Grant finished with 14 first half points, leading the way for the Golden Eagles.
 
Coming out of the halftime break, the Golden Eagles would strike first with a turnaround finish from Grant.
 
The second half would see the Dragons take their largest lead of the game at 58-37, but Mario Adams (Fr., F, Rosemount, Minn.) would finish a tough layup in the paint to cut the Golden Eagle deficit to 58-39.
 
The Dragons would continue to pull away in the second half for the win.
 
Grant would lead the way for the Golden Eagles with 23 points, tying a career-high on 9-18 shooting from the field. Sagna scored seven points, while Mitchell and Deng added four points on the night.

The Golden Eagles are set for a big one on Thursday night, as they host the St. Cloud State Huskies in Crookston. Tip-off is set for 7:30 P.M.
