Golden Eagle Volleyball Swept by Texas-Permian Basin


Odessa, Texas – Texas Permian Basin used their home floor to sweep Minnesota Crookston in three sets (16-25, 10-25, 14-25) on Thursday afternoon inside the Falcon Dome.
 
Minnesota Crookston falls to 1-4 on the season.
 
Set one
In set one, the Golden Eagles would score the first three points, highlighted by a pair of service aces from Dana Melby (R-Fr., S, Gonvick, Minn.).
 
The Falcons would tie things up at three and eventually lead 10-8, but the maroon and gold would score four straight points, including back-to-back kills from Audrey Cariveau (So., OH, Kevil, Kent.).
 
From that point on, it would be all UTPB, who would win the opening set by nine.
 
Set Two
In set two, Cariveau would give the Golden Eagles a 1-0 lead, but the Golden Eagles could never gain any traction in the set.
 
The Falcons would control the set and win 25-10.
 
Set Three
With their backs against the wall, the maroon and gold would try to fight back and get back into the match, but the host school would have none of it, jumping out to an early four point lead.
 
The Falcons would win the set, 25-14 and the match, three sets to none.
 
Stats
For the fourth time in five matches, Cariveau led the way with nine kills. Madison Carsten (Fr., OH, Wadena, Minn.) finished with seven kills on 19 attacks. The Golden Eagles hit .042 in the match.
 
Kailee Waasdorp (Fr., DS, West Fargo, N.D.) ended the night with 13 digs, another double-digit digs night for the freshman.
 
What's Next
The Golden Eagles will be back in action tomorrow for a pair of matches, starting with St. Mary's at 11 A.M., from Odessa, Texas.
