Minnesota Crookston Soccer Set to Host Bemidji State, Face Minnesota Duluth on the Road

CROOKSTON, Minn. - The University of Minnesota Crookston soccer program is set to open NSIC play this weekend. Minnesota Crookston will welcome NSIC power Bemidji State University Friday, September 15 at 3 p.m., and then will hit the road to face the University of Minnesota Duluth in Duluth, Minn., Sunday, September 17 at 1 p.m.

The Golden Eagles are looking to get in the win column after opening with an 0-4 mark. Minnesota Crookston is looking to put a full 90 minutes together, as they have had glimpses. The Golden Eagles are led by Brooklyn Fischbach (Jr., F, South St. Paul, Minn.), who has one goal and is tied for the team lead with four shots. Marsia Green (Fr., MF/F, Waconia, Minn.) has an assist, as does Autumn Rabe (Fr., F, Kewaskum, Wis.). Kedin Geremiah (Fr., F, Winnipeg, Manitoba) has four shots for Minnesota Crookston.

The Golden Eagles are averaging five shots per game, Their opponents come in with 20.8 shots per tilt. The Golden Eagles have four corner kicks this season, compared to 25 for their opponents. 

In goal, Emma Stempien (Jr., GK, Plymouth, Minn.) has a 4.00 goals against average in two starts, with six saves. Abby Olsen (Sr., GK, Chisago City, Minn.) has a 4.40 goals against average with 17 saves.

Bemidji State University
Bemidji State comes in with a 2-0-2 mark this season. They are coming off back-to-back wins over Upper Iowa University and Minot State University. The Beavers are in their 22nd season under Head Coach Jim Stone. They made it all the way to the NCAA quarterfinals last season, where they lost to Ferris State University. The Beavers have a younger squad in 2023, as they had several key players graduate in 2022.
The Beavers are led by Katrina Barthelt, with one goal and one assist. Madeline Davey comes in with one goal and an assist. Kenzie Harer, Lucy Stanton, and Maria Stocke have also accounted for goals.
Bemidji State is notching 1.25 goals per game, down from 1.56 a season ago. They are averaging 13.5 shots per tilt.

In goal, BSU is led by Edie Frantzen with a 0.25 goals against average. She has seven saves in four starts.

University of Minnesota Duluth 
Minnesota Duluth has a 1-2-1 mark in 2023. They are guided by Greg Cane, in his 30th season. The Bulldogs lost to St. Cloud State University Friday, but picked up a win over Northern State University Sunday.
They are led by Jackie Jares, with three goals and an assist. Anna Tobias enters the weekend with two goals, while Jessica Eischens and Alaina Spaude each have goals. The Bulldogs are notching 1.75 goals per game, while averaging 7.8 shots per game.
 
In goal, Jessica Norris leads the way with a 2.00 goals against average. She has 29 saves this season.
