CROOKSTON, Minn. - The University of Minnesota Crookston athletic department announced the hiring of Karina Cisar as an athletic trainer. Cisar joins UMN Crookston from the University of Idaho, where she recently completed her Master's of Athletic Training.

Cisar obtained a high level of clinical experience during her rotations while attending the University of Idaho. She worked with Carroll College from January-May of 2023. Cisar completed patient evaluations, created rehab plans, did documentation, referrals, manual treatments, taping, utilized patient reported outcome measures, and covered practices and games. Cisar did a rotation from August-December of 2022, where she worked with the University of Minnesota women's hockey and women's volleyball programs. She conducted patient evaluations, did documentation, organized rehabilitation plans, performed manual and modality treatments, and set up and covered practices and games. Cisar also did rotations with Boise High School, St. Alphonsus Joint Preservation and Reconstruction in Boise, Idaho, and worked with the Spokane Chiefs hockey team.

Cisar is Certified Athletic Trainer- BOC and a member of the National Athletic Training Association (NATA) . Additionally, Cisar is certified in MYK (Myokinesthetic System), Green Dot, Total Motion Release, Mental Health - First Aid, and Basic Life Support (BLS). She has taken continuing education courses in the mulligan concept, primal reflex release technique, rock tape, and dynamic release therapy.

Cisar received her Bachelor of Science in exercise science in 2019 from the University of Wisconsin-Superior. She graduated with honors from both University of Wisconsin-Superior and the University of Idaho. Cisar is a native of Moose Lake, Minn. 

Cisar joins the staff with Healthcare Administrator Steven Krouse, Associate Head Athletic Trainer Shelby Conard, Athletic Trainer Zach Caroselli, and Athletic Trainer Kacie Bjerk.
