Fox and Koep Named NSIC Honor Student-Athletes

BURNSVILLE, Minn. - Bren Fox (R-Sr., Norwood Young America, Minn.) and Alex Koep (Sr., Parkers Prairie, Minn.) were named NSIC Male and Female Honor Student-Athletes as announced by the conference office Wednesday, May 24. 

Fox held a 3.90 GPA was a health sciences/biology major and competed for the women's basketball team for five seasons. She ended her career as the all-time leading rebounder in Minnesota Crookston women's basketball history. Fox had 901 points and 776 rebounds in her career. She was a six-time honoree on the Dean's List and three-time honoree on the Chancellor's List at Minnesota Crookston. Fox was an NSIC Myles Brand All-Academic with Distinction recipient, and a four-time NSIC All-Academic selection. She was a member of the UMN Crookston Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, was the founder of the UMN Crookston Student-Athlete Graduation Stole Project, she did undergraduate research in freshwater sponges. Fox was an academic tutor, and Pre-Health Club President from 2021-23. Fox was a member of the Honors Program and an Alpha Lamba Delta Honor Society member. She was named CSC Academic All-District, and was an All-NSIC Second Team performer on the court. Fox will be attending the Idaho College of Osteopathic Medicine starting in August 2023 to pursue a degree in osteopathic medicine. Fox was named one of UMN Crookston's Students of the Year. 

Koep held a 3.95 GPA in natural resources while competing in baseball at Minnesota Crookston. Koep was an All-NSIC First Team selection and was the first-ever player named NSIC Pitcher of the Year for the Golden Eagles. Koep was an NCBWA All-Central Region Second Team selection. He went 7-1 with a 2.43 ERA as a senior. Koep was a two-time honoree on the Chancellor's List and a three-time honoree on the Dean's List. He was a two-time NSIC All-Academic pick. He was a member of the Natural Resources Club and the National Wildlife Society. Koep was named UMN Crookston's Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year. 

Mitch Snitker of Winona State University was selected as the Dr. William Britton Scholar-Athlete Award for Academic Excellence recipient. Amanda Montplaisir of Minnesota State University was named the Willis R. Kelly Scholar-Athlete Award for Academic Excellence recipient.
