Minnesota Crookston Concludes Trip to Norfolk with Dominant 13-0 Win Over Sioux Falls

NORFOLK, Neb. - The University of Minnesota Crookston baseball team concluded their three-game swing with the University of Sioux Falls at Veterans Memorial Field in Norfolk, Neb. The Golden Eagles put together 14 hits and had home runs from Josh Dykhoff (Fr., 1B/RHP, Wadena, Minn.) and Mike Hallquist (Jr., 3B, Fargo, N.D.) in the 13-0 victory.

The Golden Eagles finished the series 1-2 against Sioux Falls. Minnesota Crookston improved to 18-11 (8-3 NSIC) with the victory Saturday. USF dropped to 6-21 (5-8 NSIC). The Golden Eagles sit in a tie for second place in the NSIC standings.

Jake Osowski (R-Jr., RHP, East Grand Forks, Minn.) pitched the complete game shutout against the Cougars. He gave up just five hits, with eight strikeouts and no walks. Osowski moved to 5-0 with the victory.

The loss went to Ben Serie, who allowed seven runs on six hits in 1.1 innings. He had no strikeouts and walked three.

Minnesota Crookston was propelled by Hallquist, who continued his great season by going 3-of-4, with five RBIs and two runs scored. Danny Wensloff (Jr., C/OF, Roseau, Minn.) went 3-of-4, with an RBI and two runs scored. Jake Hjelle (R-Jr., OF/1B, East Grand Forks, Minn.) finished 2-of-4, with an RBI and two runs scored. Caden Headlee (Jr., OF, Fargo, N.D.) went 2-of-3, with an RBI and a run scored. Sawyer Satrom (R-Fr., IF, Portland, N.D.) was 2-of-2, with an RBI and two runs scored.

The Golden Eagles jumped on the scoreboard in the first frame and didn't look back. Hallquist started out the game with a three-run home run, his team-leading and NSIC-leading 11th home run. UMN Crookston pushed the lead to 4-0 with a Satrom single to drive in Hjelle.

Hallquist built on his big first inning hit with a triple to drive in Josh Dykhoff in the second. UMN Crookston extended their advantage to 6-0 with a Hjelle double to plate Hallquist. Headlee then came through with a sacrifice fly to bring in Hjelle to extend the lead to 7-0.

UMN Crookston pushed their lead to 8-0 in the third when Satrom scored on a passed ball.

The Golden Eagles continued their onslaught in the fourth with Josh Dykhoff's sixth home run of the season, moving the tally to 9-0.

In the fifth, Wensloff opened up the scoring with a double to drive in Satrom to make it 10-0. Josh Dykhoff then utilized a sacrifice fly to score Matt Nunn (Sr., C, Edina, Minn.) to widen the gap to 11-0. Hallquist capped off the fifth with a single, driving in Wensloff.

UMN Crookston put the stamp on their victory in the sixth when Mitch Goodwin (Jr., SS, Prior Lake, Minn.) doubled in Headlee to make the final tally 13-0.
