Myles Adams Finishes with Career-High 13 Points in Non-Conference Loss to Minot State

Box Score Minot, N.D. – Minnesota Crookston, coming off a huge win at home against Northern State, was back on the road for the final time before the New Year at Minot State, looking to avenge an earlier season loss to the Beavers. The game was a non-conference tilt.
 
Minot State would take an early 20 point lead in the first half and would hold off charges by the Golden Eagles in the second half for the 76-61 victory.
 
The Beavers would strike on their first possession of the game with a corner three by Michael Jok. Aguek Deng (R-Jr., F, Des Moines, Iowa) would finish a tough layup to cut the lead to one at 3-2.
 
Minot State would go on an 8-0 run, taking an 11-2 lead and forcing a Golden Eagle timeout. Blaize Sagna (Jr., G, London, England) would connect on a straightaway three to cut the deficit to six.
 
The Beavers would go on a 6-0 run, taking a 21-11 lead, but Reid Grant (Jr., G, Johnston, Iowa) would cash home a three to bring the Golden Eagles back within 10.
 
Minot State would go on to take a 34-14 lead, but the Golden Eagles would chip away and would cut the lead to 14 on back-to-back three's from Myles Adams (Fr., G, Rosemount, Minn.).
 
The Beavers would head into the halftime break with a 14 point lead.
 
Myles Adams finished the first 20 minutes with a team-leading eight points, a career-high for the freshman in a half. Sagan and Grant each added six first half points.
 
Coming out of the break, Minnesota Crookston would make a charge.
 
Minnesota Crookston would trail by 14, but would go on a 7-0 run, highlighted by a Grant three and a Deng layup, which forced a Beaver timeout.
 
Minot State would extend their lead to 61-46, but the Golden Eagles would get back within 12 on a Sagna three ball from the right wing.
 
The Golden Eagles, trailing 70-49 late in the second half, would score eight straight points, including a pair of three balls from Grant to make it 70-57.
 
Minot State would be able to hold off the late Golden Eagle charge for the 76-61 victory over Minnesota Crookston.
 
Sagna led the way with 17 points, including 11 in the second half. Grant added 15 on 5-9 shooting from behind the arc, as well as dishing out five assists. Myles Adams added a career-high 13 points in 24 minutes played. Deng scored seven points and 11 boards, his fifth such game of the season with more than 10 rebounds.
 
What's Next
The Golden Eagles will now reenter NSIC play and head on the road to take on Wayne State College on Friday night at 5:30 P.M., from Rice Auditorium.
