St. Cloud, Minn. – Minnesota Crookston soccer was on the road on Thursday afternoon following a site reversal earlier in the week, as they traveled to St. Cloud for a regular season finale with St. Cloud State. Minnesota Crookston was looking to spoil the party as SCSU would need a win in the final match of the regular season to win their first ever NSIC title.
The Huskies would score four second half goals to defeat the Golden Eagles, 6-0, to improve to 13-3-2. The Golden Eagles finish 2023 with a 0-18-0 record.
It would be a solid first half for the Golden Eagles, who would only trail by a pair of goals after two Huskies goals. Krysten Schuster would score at the 9:23 mark of the first half and Ellie Primerano would score more than 10 minutes later for a 2-0 halftime lead.
Following the SCSU goal,
Sarah Burgum (So., F, Mandan, N.D.) would try to answer, but would be denied by the SCSU goalkeeper.
SCSU would end the half outshooting the Golden Eagles 17-1.
Abby Olsen (Sr., GK, Chisago City, Minn.) would be outstanding in net, finishing with seven first half saves.
Following halftime, SCSU would put the ball in the back of the net four more times, earning the NSIC regular season championship.
Kedin Geremiah (Fr., F, Winnipeg, Manitoba) finished with a shot in the match.
Olsen wrapped-up her historic Golden Eagle career by making 13 saves in 90 minutes.
This afternoon closed out the chapter for four seniors, including: Olsen,
Madelyn Teplansky (Sr., MF, Apple Valley, Minn.),
Ellerie Tarbox (Sr., MF/F, Carter Lake, Iowa) and
Jenna Custer (Sr., MF/F, Queen Creek, Ariz.). We wish them the best in their future endeavors.
