CROOKSTON, Minn. – The University of Minnesota Crookston hockey team will leap into 2023 in a good position. The Golden Eagles are 14-2 (8-2 WCCHA). They went into break on a three-game winning streak. Minnesota Crookston is currently tied for second in the WCCHA Northwest Division. They are currently third in the KRACH rankings.
Minnesota Crookston is set to face-off with Northwest Division rival St. Cloud State University Friday, January 13 at 7 p.m., and Saturday, January 14 at 2 p.m., at the Crookston Sports Center.

The Golden Eagles are currently ranked fifth in the Central Region and 19
th nationally in ACHA Division II. They are looking to make a final push as they get ready for the WCCHA Tournament February 10-12 at the NSC Super Rink in Blaine, Minn. The Golden Eagles are also looking to make the ACHA Division II Central Regional at the Maryville University Hockey Center in Chesterfield, Mo.
Minnesota Crookston has had their best season as a ACHA Division II program through the first part of the 2022-23 season. The Golden Eagles have been back on the ice since the 2020-21 season.
Logan Syrup (So., F, Park River, N.D.) has led the way for UMN Crookston with 20 goals and 19 assists.
Jackson Fuller (So., F, Minneapolis, Minn.) has also improved this season, notching 13 goals and 15 assists.
Zach Larson (Jr., F, Grand Forks, N.D.), missed the 2021-22 season, but returned to tally 11 goals and 14 assists in the first half.
Tyler Zahradka (Jr., F, Grand Forks, N.D.) comes into the weekend with 12 goals and 10 assists, while
Dylan Borseth (Sr., F, Williston, N.D.) has five goals and 14 helpers.
In goal, Minnesota Crookston has utilized three players.
Jake Sumner (Jr., G, Alta Loma, Calif.) has a 2.22 goals against average in six games.
Jared Aamold (So., G, Breckenridge, Minn.) comes in with a 2.47 goals against average in eight games, while
Braden Schmitz (So., G, Devils Lake, N.D.) has a 3.08 goals against average in five games.
St. Cloud State comes into the weekend with an 0-17 mark overall. The Huskies are tied for sixth in the WCCHA Northwest Division. St. Cloud State has been led by Noah Bissett with six goals and 11 assists. Carter Ashworth comes in with 10 goals and five assists. Nick Thurman has tallied three goals and six helpers, while Dominic Mariani has eight assists.
In goal, the Huskies have looked to Eric Schmidley, with a 6.22 goals against average. In addition, Chris Hekrdle has a 7.93 goals against average in nine games.
