Crookston, Minn. – Heading into halftime, Minnesota Crookston and Concordia-St. Paul would be tied at half, but the Golden Bears would shoot 56 percent from the field in the second half, knocking off the Golden Eagles 84-68.
Minnesota Crookston falls to 1-17 (0-12 NSIC).
Both teams would start out sort of feeling each other out, as the Golden Eagles and Golden Bears would be tied at 10 following a
De'Antray Hughes (Jr., F, New Orleans, La.) dunk.
CSP would eventually extend their lead to 28-23, but a
Chandler Meeks (Fr., G, Omaha, Neb.) pull-up would cut it to five.
Rambo Badyal (Sr., G, Kelowna, British Columbia) would bury back-to-back threes to knot the game at 33 heading into the halftime break.
Coming out of the halftime break, it would be all CSP.
CSP would stretch their lead all the way up to 15, but the Golden Eagles would continue to chip away. A tough
Xzavier Jones (Jr., G, Milwaukee, Wis.) layup through contact would cut the Golden Bears lead to just seven at 68-61.
On the next possession,
Matthew Allman (Jr., G, London, England) would splash home a three on the right side corner, cutting the Golden Bear lead to 70-64.
From that point, it would be all CSP, who would pull away for the 16 point win.
Minnesota Crookston had four in double-figures, led by Badyal off the bench and
Blaize Sagna (So., G, London, England), who each had 15 points. Jones and Allman finished with 13 and 12, respectively.
Concordia-St. Paul outrebounded the Golden Eagles by 10, 38-28.
Minnesota Crookston will head to Sioux Falls next weekend, as they will take on Augustana at the Elmen Center at 5:30 P.M.
