Golden Eagle Softball Loses a Pair to Winona State

Winona, Minn. – In what was supposed to be a home weekend for Golden Eagle softball, they instead hit the road to Winona for an NSIC doubleheader against Winona State due to weather and field conditions.

Winona State showed why they are one of the perennial powers in the NSIC, sweeping the Golden Eagles by scores of 8-0 and 15-0.

Minnesota Crookston falls to 12-21 (3-5 NSIC).

Game One
In game one, the Warriors would strike early and often, scoring six runs in the top of the first and another two in the top of the second.

The big at-bat in the first inning would be a grand slam for the Warriors.

That would be all the Warriors would need, knocking off the Golden Eagles in five innings.

Minnesota Crookston collected three hits as a team. Sydney Huwe (Fr., UT, Carver, Minn.), Alina Avalos (Jr., IF, Riverside, Calif.) and Jordan Peterson (R-Sr., UT, Lakeville, Minn.) each collected a hit for the maroon and gold in game one.

Kamryn Frisk (R-Sr., P/1B, Anchorage, AK) fell to 1-4 in the circle after going one inning and giving up six runs on seven hits.

Game Two
Game two would see the Warriors have a 1-0 lead in the second, but they would add two more in the top of the third inning.

In the third and fourth innings, WSU put up a pair of crooked numbers, scoring seven in the fourth and five more in the fifth, to win the game 15-0, also in five innings.

Minnesota Crookston also had three hits in game two, with Peterson, Gabriella Blomdahl (Jr., OF, Duluth, Minn.) and Jenna Parfeniuk (R-So., UT, Winnipeg, Manitoba) getting a base-knock.

Evie Stuck (Fr., P/OF, Papillion, Neb.) went four innings, while giving up 10 runs on 10 hits. The freshman is now 6-9 in the circle on the season.

What's Next
Minnesota Crookston will head to Fayette, Iowa for a doubleheader with the Peacocks of Upper Iowa. First pitch is set for 12 PM, from the Eischeid Complex in Fayette.
