Minnesota Crookston Equestrian Competes against UT-Martin and South Dakota State in NCEA Meets

MARTIN, Tenn. – The University of Minnesota Crookston Equestrian Team competed in a pair of NCEA meets Friday, March 11 and Saturday, March 12 at McWherter Agricultural Pavilion in Martin, Tenn. The Golden Eagles fell 14-2 to South Dakota State University Friday and were defeated 15-1 by University of Tennessee-Martin Saturday.

Friday in Fences, UMN Crookston was highly competitive in a pair of rides. Keira Boedigheimer (Fr., Colorado Springs, Colo.) fell 81-77 to Margaret Franke on Dante. Morgan Schelske (Sr., Zimmerman, Minn.) was defeated 73-66 by Hannah Steele on Ferrari.

In Flat, Boedigheimer fell 62.5-50.5 competing against Franke on Luigi.

In Horsemanship, UMN Crookston was paced by Olivia Becker (Sr., Deer Park, Wis.), who picked up a 72.5-69 win over Annika Hanson on Luke. April Klecker (Sr., Amboy, Minn.) had a strong ride, narrowly falling 75-73 to Grace Blake. Ashton Wold (Jr., Devils Lake, N.D.) also had a competitive ride, falling 76-71 to Shelby Cochran on Hank. Tristyn Bair (Sr., Winnebago, Minn.) was defeated by Callyn Fox, 72-69.5 on Lance after a solid ride.

In Reining, Minnesota Crookston looked to Becker again, as she earned a victory over Cassandra Townsend on Tia. Klecker had a good ride on Tivvy, falling 67-65.5 to Lydia Loken. Beatrice Streifel (Sr., Hawley, Minn.) was competitive on Shiner, losing to Natalie Gydesen 66-64.5.

On Saturday against UT-Martin, Katherine Buttolph (Sr., Yankton, S.D.) had a strong ride on Rafiki, falling 77-75 to Haley Kane. On Finn,

Boedigheimer was very close, losing 75-74 to Emmy Reed. Schelske was also defeated in a narrow loss 70-66 by Tyler Anderson on Douglas.
In Flat, Josie Mills (Fr., Brandon, Minn.) led the Golden Eagles, falling 71-73 to Julia Gilman on Frappe.

Minnesota Crookston picked up a win in Horsemanship. Becker continued a great weekend, defeating Kate Davis on Mo, 72-71. Klecker lost narrowly, 77-71.5 to Katelyn Schultz on Juliet. Belle Sand (Fr., Spicer, Minn.) was also close, falling 76-70 to Keely Seiter on Shadow.

In Reining, Klecker was very close, being defeated 68.5-66.5 by Lexi Bailey on Tivvy. On Scarlet, Becker fell 67.5-63.5 to Aubrey Malone.

Minnesota Crookston will make their inaugural appearance at the ECAC Championship March 24-26 in Dover, Del.
