Stuck Pitches Her Fifth Complete Game of the Season as Golden Eagles Defeat Montana State Billings 6-4 on Sunday Morning

Minot, N.D. – It was a bright and early morning for Golden Eagle softball, who finished their three-game trip to Minot with Montana State University Billings.

The Golden Eagles would jump out to a 6-0 lead through the first four innings and would hold off the Yellowjackets for a 6-4 victory.

The Golden Eagles improve to 6-5 on the season.

Dana Zarn (Jr., UT, Winnipeg, Manitoba) would get the Golden Eagles on the board in the top of the second after getting hit by a pitch, scoring Ariana Gambala (So., UT, San Diego, Calif.).

One batter later, Gabriella Blomdahl (Jr., OF, Duluth, Minn.) continued her strong weekend, singling through the left side, scoring Jordan Peterson (R-Sr., UT, Lakeville, Minn.). The junior outfielder collected a career-high three hits.

The two-run second would be followed up by a three-run third inning, highlighted by a pair of doubles from Peterson and Zarn, making it 5-0 in favor of the Golden Eagles.

The Golden Eagles would add one more in the fifth after Alina Avalos (Jr., IF, Riverside, Calif.) doubled home Leah Macias (Sr., OF, West Covina, Calif.).

The Yellowjackets wouldn't go away easily. MSUB would score two in the fourth, one more in the sixth and seventh, but would strand a runner at second in the bottom of the seventh inning.

Minnesota Crookston would collect 11 hits in the game, led by Blomdahl's three. Avalos, Gambala and Peterson each collected a pair of hits, while Macias and Shaelyn Grant (So., C/OF, Grand Junction, Colo.) collected one hit apiece.

Evie Stuck (Fr., P/OF, Papillion, Neb.) continued her outstanding start in the circle. The freshman went the distance for the fourth time this season, giving up just four runs, three of which were earned on 10 hits, while striking out five. Stuck improves to 4-1 on the season, picking up two wins this weekend.

The Golden Eagles will look to continue on one of their best starts in program history next weekend as they travel to Topeka, Kan., for four games. The Golden Eagles will play Newman University at 11:30 A.M., and Washburn University at 3:30 on Saturday.
