Minnesota Crookston Equestrian Wraps Up NCEA Meets Against South Dakota State and No. 4 Georgia

BROOKINGS, S.D. – The University of Minnesota Crookston equestrian team traveled to Brookings, S.D. and the DeHaan Equestrian Center for a pair of NCEA meets against No. 4 University of Georgia and South Dakota State University.

Against South Dakota State, UMN Crookston picked up a point in Fences, Flat, Horsemanship, and Reining, but ultimately fell 11-4 to the Jackrabbits. Georgia earned the 16-0 win versus the Golden Eagles.

Minnesota Crookston was paced in Fences by Morgan Schelske (Sr., Zimmerman, Minn.), who earned a 60-55 victory over Katie Kohle. Kendra Putzke (Jr., Esko, Minn.) earned a draw with Margaret Franke on Snowy in Fences.

In Flat, the Golden Eagles were propelled by Putzke, who took the 64-63.5 victory over Franke on Mia. Both Keira Boedigheimer (Fr., Colorado Springs, Colo.), 66-62, and Schelske, had narrow losses on the Flat.

In Horsemanship, Minnesota Crookston was paced by a 68.5-68 victory by Olivia Becker (Sr., Deer Park, Wis.) over Jadyn Taylor on Brio. Both Belle Sand (Fr, Spicer, Minn.) and Ashton Wold (Jr., Devils Lake, N.D.) also rode very well, but fell narrowly in Horsemanship.

Minnesota Crookston was paced in Reining by a 63.5-63 victory by Becker over Isabelle Riggs on Aggie. Wold, Sand, and April Klecker (Sr., Amboy, Minn.) had competitive rides, but fell narrowly in their match-ups.

Against Georgia, Boedigheimer paced the Golden Eagles in Fences, but fell 76-70 to Rachel McMullen. In Flat, Clara Lemarr (Fr., Sleepy Eye, Minn.) led UMN Crookston, but was defeated narrowly 67-65.5 by Hayley Mairano.
Minnesota Crookston had strong rides in Horsemanship, with Tristyn Bair (Sr., Winnebago, Minn.), Klecker, and Becker all falling in close match-ups. In Reining, all four riders, Becker, Beatrice Streifel (Sr., Hawley, Minn.), Bair, and Klecker all had very competitive rides for the Golden Eagles.

Minnesota Crookston is 0-4 this season during the NCEA season with two losses to South Dakota, and losses to Georgia and Texas Christian University (TCU).
