Northern State Pulls Away for Friday Night Win over Minnesota Crookston

Aberdeen, S.D. – Chandler Meeks (Fr., G, Omaha, Neb.) and Blaize Sagna (So., G, London, England) each added 15 points, but it wasn't enough for the Golden Eagles, who fell, 81-62, to Northern State in men's basketball action on Friday night.

The Golden Eagles fall to 1-9 (0-4 NSIC) on the season.

The Golden Eagles got off to a fast 6-2 start, highlighted by a bucket from Sagna and a make from deep from the freshman Meeks.

The Wolves would extend their lead and eventually take a 31-18 lead, but an Xzavier Jones (Jr., G, Milwaukee, Wis.) old-fashioned three-point play would cut the lead to eight at 31-23.

The Wolves would lead by seven heading into the halftime break after a pair of late free throws from Sagna.

The Wolves would score the first five points of the second half, but the Golden Eagles would answer, cutting the lead to 11 after a Jones layup and a De'Antray Hughes (Jr., F, New Orleans, La.) slam dunk.

NSU would continue to lead by double-digits in the second half, as the Golden Eagles would get as close as 13 in the game.

The Wolves pulled away for the 19 point victory.

Sagna and Meeks led the way with 15 points, while Jones finished with 14 on 50 percent shooting from the field. Hughes and Rambo Badyal (Sr., G, Kelowna, British Columbia) each finished with eight points in the game.

The Golden Eagles shot 36 percent from the field, while the Wolves shot 37 percent from the field.

Minnesota Crookston will head to Moorhead tomorrow night for an NSIC Matchup with MSU Moorhead. Tip-off is set for 5:30 P.M.
