Minnesota Crookston Hockey Continues Hot Start with 7-1 Win Over Bethel

ST. PAUL, Minn. – The University of Minnesota Crookston hockey team kept their undefeated mark with a 7-1 victory over Bethel University to pick up their third sweep of the 2022-23 season.

Minnesota Crookston moves to 6-0-0 (6-0-0 WCCHA) as they remain at the top of the Northwest Division of the WCCHA.

The Golden Eagles were propelled by two goals and an assist from Gunner Ferrier (Jr., D, Baudette, Minn.). Logan Syrup (So., F, Park River, N.D.) also had two goals and one assist. Jackson Fuller (So., F, Minneapolis, Minn.) finished with three assists.

UMN Crookston jumped on the scoreboard in the seventh minute of the first period when Ferrier scored his third goal of the season, with assists from Dylan Borseth (Sr., F, Williston, N.D.), and Tyler Zahradka (Jr., F, Grand Forks, N.D.). The Golden Eagles pushed their advantage to 2-0 in the 19th minute of the first stanza when Jake Huska (Jr., D, Snow River, Manitoba) scored off a Fuller assist. Four seconds later, Zahradka tallied his seventh goal of the season off a Casey Kallock (Sr., D, Alvarado, Minn.) apple.

UMN Crookston pushed the advantage to 4-0 in the sixth minute of the second period when Spencer Dahlquist (Jr., D, Maple Grove, Minn.) scored his first goal as a Golden Eagle, off helpers from Mitchell Coleman (So., D, Hatton, N.D.), and Fuller. In the 13th minute of the second period, Syrup scored his team-leading eighth goal off a Zahradka assist.

Just under three minutes into the third period, Syrup scored again, off a Ferrier assist to widen the gap to 6-1. In the 10th minute of the third stanza, Ferrier notched a goal off assists from Coleman, and Fuller. Bethel cut the deficit to 7-1 late in the game, with a goal from Erik Brecheisen, off a Brandt Botterill assist.

Jared Aamold (So., G, Breckenridge, Minn.) started in goal. He allowed just one goal. Haddy Hadsock allowed one goal and had seven saves. Logan Moe faced 52 shots on goal, and allowed six goals, with 46 saves.

Minnesota Crookston returns home to host the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Friday, November 11 at 7 p.m., at the Crookston Sports Center.
