Aberdeen, S.D. – Matthew Allman (Jr., G, London, England) went a perfect 4-4 from deep as the Golden Eagles needed every last one of them, as they defeated Presentation College, 80-76 on Friday night. The victory over the Saints was the first one in the career of
Bryan Beamish as Head Coach.
The Golden Eagles improve to 1-5 on the season.
The Golden Eagles would get off a fast start as their first four out of five baskets would be from deep.
Dezmond Washington (Jr., F, Morrilton, Ark.) would get the three-point barrage started.
Xzavier Jones (Jr., G, Milwaukee, Wis.) would follow and Allman would connect on three straight 3's, giving the Golden Eagles a 17-8 lead.
PC would continue to chip away. The maroon and gold would lead by five at 26-21 after a Jones jumper, but the Saints would eventually take a one point lead, at 29-28.
In the last two and a half minutes, the Saints would go on a 6-0 run for a 40-35 lead heading into the halftime break.
PC would continue their hot shooting early on in the second half, stretching their lead to eight, three and a half minutes into the half.
Allman and
Ron Kirk, Jr., (So., G, Milwaukee, Wis.) would bury back-to-back shots from deep, cutting the Saints lead to six.
Trailing 57-54, the Golden Eagles would go on a 12-0 run, ignited by points in the paint and stops on defense.
A three from
Rambo Badyal (Sr., G, Kelowna, British Columbia), who finished with ten points, tying a career-high, would bury a three from the top of the key, giving the Golden Eagles their largest lead of the game, 71-60.
The Golden Eagles would make big plays down the stretch, halting the furious Saints rally for the four-point victory.
The Golden Eagles had four players in double-figures, led by Allman's 14, while Jones and Washington each had 13. It's the fourth time in six games with double-figures for Washington. Badyal finished with 10, while
Blaize Sagna (So., G, London, England) added eight points and six boards.
Jordan Mitchell (R-So., F, Columbus, Ohio) scored a career-high eight points and six boards, also a career-high, while
Marcus Thompson (R-Sr., F, Brooklyn, N.Y.) also added eight points.
Minnesota Crookston buried a season best 11 makes from deep and outrebounded the Saints, 42-38.

The Golden Eagles will close out the Thanksgiving Classic hosted by Northern State tomorrow night as they play Texas A & M-Kingsville for the first time in program history. Tip-off is set for 4 P.M., from Wachs Arena.
