Minnesota Crookston Earns Fourth Sweep of Season with Five Straight Goals on Saturday

11/19/2022 9:31:00 PM

Bottineau, N.D. – After the Lumberjacks of Dakota College at Bottineau jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead on Saturday afternoon, the Golden Eagles stormed back for five straight goals, winning their third straight game to move to 9-1 on the season.

Logan Mantell would open the scoring for the Lumberjacks with a goal early in the first period.

Matt Olson would give the Lumberjacks a two goal lead early in the second.

You know what they say about the two-goal lead? It's the most dangerous lead in hockey. The Golden Eagles would prove that.

Casey Kallock (R-Sr., D, Alvarado, Minn.) would score his fifth goal of the season unassisted, cutting the Lumberjack lead to just one.

Mitchell Coleman (So., Hatton, N.D.) would score his first of two goals on the afternoon, tying the game up at two. Jackson Fuller (So., F, Minneapolis, Minn.) and Dylan Borseth (Sr., F, Williston, N.D.) would pick up the assists.

That is how things would be heading into the third period. Tyler Zahradka (Jr., F, Grand Forks, N.D.) would score his eighth goal of the season on the power play for the game winning goal. The game-winning goal was Zahradka's third of the year, which leads the team. Kallock and Logan Syrup (So., F, Park River, N.D.) would pick up the assists.

Less than three minutes later, Jake Huska (Jr., D, Snow Lake, Manitoba) would find the back of the net with the assist from Fuller.

At the 10:34 mark of the third, Coleman would put the icing on the cake with his second goal of the season. Fuller would pick up his third assist of the night, while Borseth earned his second.

Jared Aamold (So., G, Breckenridge, Minn.) earned his fourth win of the season, making 24 saves on 26 shots.

Fuller led the way with three assists, while Coleman, Borseth and Kallock each had two points on the night. Fuller and Kallock are now tied for second on the Golden Eagles with 16 points on the season.
