Box Score Mitchell, S.D. – It was the regular season opener for the Minnesota Crookston soccer team, who travelled to Mitchell, S.D., for a match with the Dakota Wesleyan Tigers.
 
The Tigers would score in the opening 90 seconds of the second half and that is all they would need, as DWU was able to hold off a furious Golden Eagle rally late, to win, 1-0.
 
Minnesota Crookston falls to 0-1-0 on the season, while the Tigers improve to 2-1-0 through three games on the season.
 
Both teams would spend the majority of the first half in the neutral part of the field, but the Golden Eagles and 
Madelyn Teplansky (So., F, Apple Valley, Calif.) would have a golden opportunity late in the first half, but her shot was sent just high.
 
The Tigers would strike first on a gorgeous shot from Deandrea Johnson that got by Golden Eagle keeper 
Abby Olsen (So., GK, Chisago City, Minn.) to put the Tigers up 1-0.
 
The Golden Eagles would have a great chance late in the match, but 
Brooklyn Fischbach's (Fr., MF, South St. Paul, Minn.) shot late in the match would be stopped by the DWU keeper. Fischbach had both of the Golden Eagles shots on goal.
 
Minnesota Crookston had chances, but the Tigers were able to hold off a rally late in the match.
 
Ashley Chomyn (Jr., MF, Winnipeg, Manitoba) collected three shots on the day for the Golden Eagles. Olsen was really good in net for the Golden Eagles, making five saves on six shots on the day.
 
What's Next
Minnesota Crookston is back in action this Wednesday as they will travel an hour south for a match with Concordia-Moorhead. The match is scheduled for 5 p.m. from Moorhead.
