Minnesota Crookston Falls to Minnesota Duluth on Saturday

Duluth, Minn. – Minnesota Crookston women's basketball was looking to get into the win column in the NSIC on Saturday afternoon as they traveled to Duluth to take on the Bulldogs of Minnesota Duluth.
 
UMD used huge second and third quarters to pull away from the Golden Eagles and win 78-46 to pick up their second straight NSIC win.
 
The Golden Eagles started out strong in the first quarter, trailing 15-13 at the end of one, which was helped by 5-9 shooting from the field.
 
Playing close to her hometown, Mary Burke (Sr., F, Virginia, Minn.) buried a three to give the Golden Eagles an early 3-0 lead.
 
The Golden Eagles would take a 7-5 lead following back-to-back makes from Kylie Post (Sr., G, Corcoran, Minn.) and Bren Fox (R-Jr., C, Norwood Young America, Minn.).
 
The Golden Eagles would eventually take a 13-12 lead after Abi Fraaza (Fr., F, Birnamwood, Wis.) would score two of her career-high 15 points, which led the Golden Eagles.
 
The Golden Eagles started out strong in the first quarter, trailing 15-13 at the end of one, which was helped by 5-9 shooting from the field.
 
From that quarter, UMD would show why they were a preseason nationally-ranked team, outscoring the Golden Eagles 25-11 in the second quarter and 24-10 in the third quarter to pull away from the Golden Eagles.
 
Individually, the Golden Eagles were led by Fraaza's 15, while Burke finished with 10 in the game. Post finished with seven, while Alex Page (Fr., F, Grand Forks, N.D.) and Lily Orazem (Fr., G, Onamia, Minn.) each had five.
 
Minnesota Crookston finished with 22 turnovers in the game.
 
The Golden Eagles will be back in action on Tuesday night, as Highway-2 rival Bemidji State comes to town. Tip-off is set for 6 P.M., from Gary Senske Court at Lysaker Gymnasium. Autographs from the ladies will follow the game.
