Topeka, Kan.—With her season high 13 strikeouts in game two,
Paige Pitlick (Sr., P, Jordan, Minn.) became Minnesota Crookston's all-time leader in career strikeouts. Minnesota Crookston lost both games in their first games outside, falling to Washburn, 7-0 in game one and 1-0 to Pittsburg State in game two.
With two losses on the day, the Golden Eagles fall to 6-8 on the season.
Game One
Kamryn Frisk (Jr., RHP/1B, Anchorage, Ak.) earned the start in the circle in game one and was outstanding.
There wasn't a ton of offense for either team in the first game, collecting just three hits for Minnesota Crookston and seven for the Ichabods.
Washburn got the scoring started in the fifth inning with a double that scored two. Washburn would then score five runs in the bottom of the sixth, using small ball and a Golden Eagle error.
Reagan Hamm was outstanding in the circle for Washburn, picking up her eighth win of the season.
Minnesota Crookston had just three hits, with one each from
Gabriella Blomdahl (Fr., OF, Duluth, Minn.),
Mika Rodriguez (Sr., UT, Laveen, Ariz.) and Frisk.
In the circle, Frisk went 4.1 innings, striking out two and giving up just two earned runs.
Game Two
Much like game one, game two between the Golden Eagles and Gorillas didn't see much offense.
The Gorillas would score the one and only run in the bottom of the second inning on a bunt single and a throwing error, which scored a run.
The Golden Eagles had one baserunner the entire game, which was
Darian Pancirov (So., 1B/P, Las Vegas, Nev.), who also collected the only Golden Eagle hit on the day.
Much like she has been all season, Pitlick was outstanding in the circle, pitching a complete game, allowing four hits and striking out 13. It's the third game with more than 10 strikeouts in a game for Pitlick this season.
Minnesota Crookston will wrap-up their Kansas trip with two games tomorrow. The Golden Eagles will take on Emporia State at 9 a.m., followed by a game with Fort Hays State at 11 a.m.
