BISMARCK, N.D. – The University of Minnesota Crookston tennis team fell 7-0 to University of Mary Sat., Feb. 15 at Capital Racquet and Fitness Center in Bismarck, N.D.
In doubles, the pair of
Ashley Smith (Sr., Staples, Minn.) and
Latafale Niumeitolu (Fr., Sandy, Utah) fell 6-0 to Tasha Dembo and Yusra Hegry. At the No. 2 spot,
Ashley Chomyn (Fr., Winnipeg, Manitoba) and
Karli Renney (Jr., Detroit Lakes, Minn.) fell 6-0 to Danielle Wolf and Jamie Stoppler. At the No. 3 slot,
Samantha Hartung (Fr., Albany, Minn.) and
Athena DiMario Done (Jr., Windsor, Ontario) were upended 6-0 by Kali Askvig and Kelsey Lajom. DiMario Done made her debut with the Golden Eagle tennis team on Saturday.
In singles, Smith played No. 1 singles, falling 6-0, 6-0 to Dembo. At the No. 2 spot, Niumeitolu was upended 6-0, 6-0 by Hegy. At No. 3 singles, Lajom defeated Chomyn, 6-0, 6-0. At No. 4 singles, Renney fell 6-0, 6-0 to Heidi Jacobson. At the No. 5 spot, DiMario Done was defeated 6-0, 6-0 by Julie Donnelly. At the No. 6 slot, Sarah Zielinski upended Hartung, 6-0, 6-0.
Minnesota Crookston remains in Bismarck, N.D., to take on Minnesota State University Moorhead at 1 p.m. at Capital Racquet and Fitness Center.
