Minnesota Crookston Soccer Set to Host Minot State Tuesday

CROOKSTON, Minn. – The University of Minnesota Crookston soccer team is set to host Minot State University Tues., Nov. 5 at 1 p.m., at the Minnesota Crookston Soccer Field. The game is one that was originally slated for Sun., Oct. 13, but was moved due to inclement weather in the Red River Valley.

Minnesota Crookston is coming off perhaps their best game of the season in a 2-1 loss to MSU Moorhead, where they didn't give in and pushed the MSU Moorhead Dragons late. The Golden Eagles have been led on the season by the play up front of Maggie Peterson (Jr., F, Princeton, Minn.), as she has two goals and one assist. Kiya Gere (So., D, Vancouver, Wash.) has been strong at outside back for the Golden Eagles, with one goal and one assist. Paige Pettit (Sr., D, St. Michael, Minn.) has added a goal, while Samantha Donnay (Fr., MF, Princeton, Minn.) has chipped in two assists.

In net, Athena DiMario Done (Jr., GK, Windsor, Ontario) has a 3.44 goals against average with 95 saves. DiMario Done is tied with her former teammate Olivia Puttin for fifth all-time in career saves.

The Golden Eagles are searching for their first win of 2019 as they head into their final two games of the 2019 slate. Minnesota Crookston is currently in their first season under Head Coach Kyle Halfpop.

Minot State Preview
Minot State enters the week with a 3-13 (3-10 NSIC) mark. The Beavers have lost their last four games with their last win coming with a 3-2 win over Southwest Minnesota State University Oct. 20. The Beavers are in their first season under Head Coach Chris Clements.

Minot State has scored 11 goals on the year, while allowing 42 to their foes. The Beavers are guided by Sofia Lewis with five goals and one assist. Melanie van Walstijn has chipped in a goal and three assists. Daniela Fonseca and Anabel Noches has added two goals.
In goal, Erin Rafferty has a 2.14 goals against average with 89 saves.
