Box Score ABERDEEN, S.D. – The University of Minnesota Crookston soccer team fell 6-1 to Northern State University in their last road game of the season played Fri., Nov. 1 at the Athletic and Recreation Fields in Aberdeen, S.D.
The Golden Eagles fall to 0-13 (0-12 NSIC) with the loss, while Northern State improves to 4-10-1 (2-9-1 NSIC) with the win.
Minnesota Crookston had three shots on goal for the game.
Paige Pettit (Sr., D, St. Michael, Minn.) led the way with the Golden Eagles lone goal of the afternoon.
Maggie Peterson (Jr., F, Princeton, Minn.) added two shots on goal.
Athena DiMario Done (Jr., GK, Windsor, Ontario) had 10 saves on the day. She needs just five more saves to surpass her former teammate
Olivia Puttin for fifth all-time.
Northern State notched 33 shots with 16 shots on goal for the afternoon. They won eight corners to just one for Minnesota Crookston.
The Golden Eagles had moments of solid possession, but had a few breakdowns defensively throughout Friday's tilt.
Northern State utilized three goals in the first half to take an early 3-0 advantage on the Golden Eagles.
The Wolves got the scoring going in the ninth minute as Katinka Ummels found Shianne Rosselli for the goal to put Northern State ahead 1-0.
The Golden Eagles got their lone shot on goal shortly before the goal as
Maggie Peterson put an attempt on net that was saved by Morgan Bury.
Minnesota Crookston held their own for the next 24 minutes, as they were able to get the ball on their offensive half and get some chances going.
However, Northern State was able to seize the day and score the second goal of the game on an unassisted netter from Ona Blasco in the 33
rd minute.
The Wolves added a third tally in the 44
th minute as Rosselli picked up her second goal of the day.
The Golden Eagles had one shot on goal in the first half, as Northern State had 17 shots and nine shots on goal.
Minnesota Crookston got a goal quick out of the gate of the second stanza as
Kiya Gere (So.., D, Vancouver, Minn.) found Pettit off the corner kick for her first career goal to cut the lead to 3-1. Gere has a goal and an assist on the season, while the goal marks Pettit's first points of the season.
Northern State scored soon after as Mallory Schoenhard found the back of the net to extend the lead to 4-1.
The Golden Eagles had another chance in the 53
rd minute from Peterson.
Schoenhard added her second goal of the game in the 81
st minute to push the Northern State lead to 5-1.
The Wolves added one final goal in the last minute as Jocelin Martinez found the back of the net on a Rosselli assist.
Minnesota Crookston returns home to face Minnesota State University Moorhead Sun., Nov. 3 for a game that has been moved up to 12 p.m. The Golden Eagles and Dragons will play for the Highway 75 rivalry rock.
