Minnesota Crookston Tidbits
The Golden Eagles are in a continued search for their first result in their first season under Head Coach
Kyle Halfpop. Minnesota Crookston played one of their best games of the season last Sunday. The Golden Eagles had six shots to Wayne State's seven in the first half, as they were aggressive on the offensive end of the pitch and were able to string together passes and create opportunities. Minnesota Crookston was also strong defensively, as well as with their play in the midfield. Wayne State was able to get two goals off penalty kicks as they picked up a 2-0 win in what was otherwise an even affair.
The Golden Eagles are led by
Maggie Peterson (Jr., F, Princeton, Minn.) with one goal and one assist. Peterson has been the focus of the team's attack this season.
Kiya Gere (So., D, Vancouver, Wash.) has been instrumental both defensively and in helping the team get forward this season. Gere has one goal on the year. In the midfield, the Golden Eagles have gotten strong play recently out of
Latafale Niumeitolu (Fr., MF, Sandy, Utah), along with
Tyler Goodwin (So., MF, Covina, Calif.), and
Vanessa Shelton (Jr., MF/F, Tacoma, Wash.).
In goal,
Athena DiMario Done (Jr., GK, Windsor, Ontario) returned from injury last week. She has a 3.31 goals against average with 80 saves on the season. DiMario Done needs 15 saves to surpass her former teammate
